Notice: Seeking Simply Amazing & Affordable Health Insurance

Last year we sought & fought & changed our health insurance 3 times while trying to find something affordable. Not having an employer that offers health insurance has forced us out there on our own, in the "private" plans, which are unbelievably unaffordable & complicated. We were fortunate enough, however, to find a plan that is offered through the GA Baptist Convention that would give us a bit of a head start over regular private plans. We found a HDHP (High Deductible Health Plan) option that would allow us to pay only $282 per month for the premium, give us a $5200 deductible (which we would have to meet before they would cover anything), followed by 100% coverage. Oh, & our max out of pocket WAS the deductible.

So we planned to have a baby early in the year so that we would meet the deductible right away & then any medical things that the whole family could need would be covered through the end of the calendar year 100%. Only we got a letter in the mail the other day that our plan will not be offered again next year. :( The plan that is replacing it includes a $5600 deductible, 80% coverage after we meet the deductible, & an additional $6000 max out of pocket. That means a potential of $6400 MORE out of pocket than we had anticipated.

I just hate finances. And insurance.

But this baby girl is wiggling around so sweetly even as I am typing & I LOVE it!!! I know it will all work out...but I have some serious planning & studying to do to be prepared now. stink.
