Checkin' the microphone

In December at Neena's gymnastics class, they had a little "show" for us. Ms. Carrie, Neena's teacher, let them each come up to the microphone to tell about what they had learned each month. Neena is saying, "In October...we learned...sideways skills...My name is Neena & I had a good day at joe-nastics...& I love to like...and hug myself" or something like that. Not shy at all on a mic. Nope. She'd have done a full concert for anyone willing to watch.

Last night we watched the first American Idol of the season. Neena loves American Idol.
I did opt to not let her see bikini girl although Chad didn't understand why. Sigh. When it was over, she sat down at her little keyboard & began to sing & it hit me that she sounds like many of the people auditioning for American Idol. And I hear it ALL DAY LONG. I love my girl & I believe that one day she'll have mad singing skills from all this practice but I can only hear it so long before I just want some quiet time!! When we're out & Neena is singing her songs, people always look & smile at me & I know they're thinking, "Oh, if we notice her she'll realize she's in public & we're listening & she'll stop." Nope. Normally she'll just sing louder. And I have to admit, I enjoy the attention she gets from it most of the time because it generally comes with smiles & conversation & most of the time she has wonderful manners. She loves people. And that is an answer to prayer :)

The girls who teach her are amazing. They are so creative & are so good with the girls. The girl sitting with Neena used to cheer with me :) And they are also good about making Neena obey--and she needs it. Really, I need all the help I can get! Reinforcement is a good thing.

This video was from the end; I missed getting this while they were doing this activity, so it's kind of chaotic. But she has come a LONG way getting her jump all the way onto the mat. I'm very proud of her. She loves "joe-nastics." She's not very flexible; I was like a limp noodle at this age & wish she could've gotten a little more of that from me. But if it doesn't come with time, the motor skills & listening skills will do her good!
