Rock'n Out

Today Chad & I got to lead worship at Bridgepoint Church. We had a wonderful time. You can go to the "Media" link on the page & click on today's date to hear =) It's not up yet but it should be soon. As I'm writing this, Neena keeps coming in and out of the bathroom telling me she needs to go "real bad." She's trying to convince me to come help. But we all know she can go by herself. I haven't been playing bass too long--just since last January. So sometimes I am a little intimidated that I am the weakest link and today was no exception. UNTIL they insisted that we listen to the cd Andy recorded from the house mix and I have to say...I rocked. Don't get me wrong; it is in no way flawless. I say that with as much humility as possible when I am seeking to rock out. And I try to rock out for God's glory, to express worship, & to connect with those worshiping in the audience. To that end, I feel that I am really improving. Jimmy's son said I was "sick nasty." Quite a compliment, I thought, from a 14ish-yr-old boy. And it is such a joy. Such a blessing that Chad & I get to lead worship together; we play together so much that I pretty much know what he's going to do before he does it.

I have struggled in the past with standing in front of people & playing; stage fright/caffeine jitters/anxiety. I am so thankful for what I learned through that struggle. It can be difficult to focus your mind on worshiping the Lord when focusing on playing takes so much concentration. I realized that sometimes what you're doing is really worship in action--much like being home & washing dishes, doing laundry, etc. You don't have to focus on worship the entire time to be able to do it to the glory of the Lord. As a result, however, when I am able to worship in the audience, I tend to really connect & cry & dance & clap a lot. And also, I am just an emotional girl at times.

Here's a pic of me with my bass at a D-Now we played at over Easter weekend this year.

Way to go! I really want to play an instrument. There are so many I love! I would probably play something quirky, like the xylophone. :) That's a great picture of you.
