Getting Started

So, yeah; I'm finally going to try to do this. I often think about how things that occur in our lives would sound if it were blogged about but never get the courage to start one. I guess I feel that there's a lot of pressure to produce interesting reading material & I'm not sure I can create that at all times. But at any rate, hopefully I can just enjoy having a record of things I would forget if not written down somewhere.

I found out last Saturday I'm PREGNANT!! WooHoo! And on our second month of "trying" too. Although I'm sure Chad wouldn't have minded it taking a little longer. And because I'm just this vain, I took a "before" picture of my stomach so that I won't forget what it looked like.

I'm also now wearing all my favorite clothes in case it's my last time ever to fit in them. Seriously, there's a lot at stake, here! You would understand if you saw what happened to me after nursing Neena. Wish I had taken a pic of those. But I'm feeling good. I'm not sleeping much...which is why I'm here at 6am; I don't remember not sleeping well until I was so big comfort was not an option with Neena. I think it's mostly because I've got so much on my mind. So much to research & learn about.

Which reminds me, if any of you have babies & use disposable diapers, you should really check out this website. Watch the video on how diapers decompose & it will really make you want to consider other options. I'm definitely adding them to my new baby wish list. =)

Neena is very excited about her new baby in my tummy. She's ready for him to be here. And by him, I definitely mean that I want a boy. Healthy boy while I'm asking but I'll take whatever I get happily. I'll probably go deeper into that at some point but I'll leave it at that for now.

And while I'm here, I think I'll show you pics from vacation. We went with my parents (MiMi & Papa), my brother & his sweet wife Laila. It was bitter-sweet as my brother left to begin his training for Iraq 2 days after we left...but we had a great time.

Neena, Mom, & I got up early every morning & had coffee on the balcony. Neena is convinced she should have coffee every morning now. But I love how she's standing here. Since then we have begun to successfully nix the pull-ups. She's getting so big!

Sorry Laila...I really shouldn't do this but this picture makes me so happy! Laila was the first to notice the pit shadows & called herself Amazon Woman; I couldn't figure out why until she told me. We laughed & laughed. I don't know why I insist on snapping the picture when someone is totally not ready; most of the time it doesn't work out but when you get this many smiles, it's totally worth it.

Here's a pic of Neena & me at the zoo. Well, zoo might be an overstatement. But we were happy with our choice to spend an afternoon there. Neena is quite the busy-body and we felt that we needed to give the rest of the campers a chance to rest. And rest they did. We didn't get out much on vacation; well, away from the condo, that is. We played Wii Fit, swam in the warm, indoor pool (Neena's decision; we'd rather have been in the sun outdoors), & walked the beach.

Speaking of Wii fun, here's a pic of Dad doing the ski slopes. I kid you not, he did better than most of us. He was too cute.

Here's another pic from the zoo. Snow cone. If you can call it that. More like Kool Aid on ice.

Well, it's time for me to go to Curves. I'm doing a 30-day fitness trial for a national fitness study. Started it 4 days before I found out I was pregnant. It doesn't say anywhere that you can't participate if you're pregnant. So I don't think I'll tell them. Working out makes me feel great; I'll just leave them confused as to why my fitness has weakened over the 30 days. Ha!

Don't worry about having the most interesting things in the world to blog about. The main reason I blog is to keep my friends up to date w/ the things going on in my life. Occasionally, I throw in a story for pure entertainment value, making sure I tell it in a funny way, but for the most part, I just like having a record for myself & a place for my friends to read up on me.

One person who does write for entertainment value, whose blog I have gone back through & read every single post on, because I am so in love with her writing, is here: http://theuglyvolvo.livejournal.com/

She's hilarious, and I always tell people about that blog whenever they want a recommendation - which, I know, you didn't ask for, but you will still thank me.
